Project at the “Lixão” (Trash Dump in Itaberaba)

What is it?

An evangelistic and social project for the people who live at the trash dump in Itaberaba.

History:

In 2008, a group of students at the International Teaching School of Geração Justa (Righteous Generation), were responsible for a project of evangelism with children, and were directed by the Lord, to visit the local trash dump in Itaberaba.  As they visited, they and took food with them.  In 2009, one of the students the International Teaching School of  Geração Justa (Righteous Generation), Luciano, a leader in the group of evangelism projects, started visiting the people in the trash dump, without a connection to the school.  Luciano felt that there was help that was needed, and started to cry out to the Lord, to do His will.  At the same time, the people at the International Teaching School of Geração Justa (Righteous Generation), and the ministry of Geração Justa (Righteous Generation), felt a concern for the lives at this particular place, and in a conversation promoted by God, between the people responsible for the Bible Institute, and Luciano, it was decided to take on the project, and give support for the work in this place.

Vision:

To take the Gospel to the people of this area, orienting them in truth, loving, and respecting them as citizens, and supplying some of their basic necessities.

Necessities of the Area:

The people in this area do not have the equipment necessary for the work that is developing there, and are subject to sickness and are exposed to accidents with objects that can cut and perforate.  They live in horrible conditions, and are badly fed.  They don’t just collect trash to sell and sustain themselves, but they also collect trash to feed themselves.  The people at the trash dump need adequate instruments to work, as well as clothes, shoes, and quality foods.

How to Help:

  • Praying
  • Donating materials for their face, boots, and gloves, that are appropriate for their work
  • Donating food, clothes, shoes, personal hygiene products, blankets, and more
  • Donating Bibles
